The water may be freezing here on Long Island, but that will not keep members of local Polar Bear Clubs from jumping right in during this year’s plunges.
 
So what exactly do you have to do for a Polar Bear Plunge? It’s easy, all you have to do is volunteer to take the plunges, then jump into the freezing cold water! This may not seem easy for everyone, but the good news is that these events benefit charities.
 
Many of these events are free to take part in, however some do charge for registration. Be sure to check out the page for each event for more registration info.
 
The waters off of Long Island can get as cold as 35 degrees. So get ready to get warm once you’re finished with these plunges this year:
