Man Dies in Camper Fire, SCPD Investigating

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad and Arson Section detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man during a camper fire in Bohemia early this morning.

The cause of the fire is undetermined but appears non-criminal at this time. The investigation is continuing.

Bohemia, NY - November 19, 2015 - Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad and Arson Section detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man during a camper fire in Bohemia early this morning.

Fifth Precinct officers responded to 85 Bourne Blvd. after a 911 caller reported a fire in a camper that was parked in the driveway of the home at approximately 4:10 a.m. When the fire was extinguished, Thomas Gangi was found dead inside the camper. Gangi, 30, lives at the home and was sleeping in the camper at the time of the fire.

No one else was in the camper at the time of the fire and none of the occupants of the home were injured. The cause of the fire is undetermined but appears non-criminal at this time.

The investigation is continuing.
