Elmont, NY - October 9th, 2014 - The Fourth Squad reports the details of a serious auto accident that occurred on Thursday, October 09, 2014 at 7:20 A.M. in Elmont.
According to detectives, a male pedestrian, 73, was crossing Hempstead Turnpike in a northerly direction just west of Lucille Avenue. He was struck by a 2008 Honda driven by a female, 55 years of age. Extensive sun glare limited her visibility. The victim suffered serious head injuries and was taken to an area hospital where he is listed in critical condition. A brake and safety check was conducted at the scene.
No criminality is suspected.
