Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an air quality index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The air quality index...or aqi...was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the aqi value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated...the New York state department of health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very Young, and those with pre-existing respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Leandra’s Law Arrest in Rockville Centre

A woman was arrested in Rockville Centre for driving while intoxicated with a child in the car.

Rockville Centre, NY - July 13, 2014 - The Nassau County Police report the arrest of an East Rockaway woman for Driving while Intoxicated violating Leandra’s Law that occurred on Saturday, July 12, 2014 in Rockville Centre.
 
According to police, Rockville Centre Police received a call for an auto accident on Riverside Drive. Upon their arrival the officers discovered the defendant Bianca Flores, 25 of  2 Wilson Street was driving a 2013 Honda with a 6 year old female passenger when she was involved in an auto accident at that location. The investigation determined that Flores had left the scene of an auto accident in Lynbrook just prior to the accident on Riverside Drive. She was placed under arrest without incident and the child was released to a family member. There were no injuries reported.
 
Flores is charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a child under 15               (Leandra Law), Aggravated Unlicensed 1st degree(DWI), Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Driving While Intoxicated, and Leaving the scene of an Auto Accident. She will be arraigned on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at First District Court in Hempstead.
