The National Weather Service in New York has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow and freezing rain...which is in effect from 3 PM Tuesday to 2 am EST Wednesday. * Locations...New York City...Nassau and western Suffolk County...as well as Union...Essex and Hudson counties... * hazard types...snow and freezing rain. * Accumulations...snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches...along with a trace to a few hundredths of an inch of ice. * Temperatures...starting in the mid to upper 20s Tuesday afternoon...then slowly rising into the lower 30s to mid 30s late Tuesday night. * Timing...snow develops late Tuesday afternoon...then mixes with sleet and freezing rain Tuesday evening before changing to freezing rain by midnight...then to plain rain late at night. * Impacts...snow covered surfaces...coated with ice...will make traveling difficult at times. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow...sleet...or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. NCPD Crime Alert: Man Wanted for Robbing Merrick Capitol One Bank

The Robbery Squad reports the details of a bank robbery that occurred at 10:09am on July 11, 2014 in Merrick.

Merrick, NY - July 12th, 2014 - The Robbery Squad reports the details of a bank robbery that occurred at 10:09am on July 11, 2014 in Merrick.
 
According to Detectives, an unknown male subject entered the Capital One Bank located at 2192 Merrick Road.  The subject approached a teller with a demand note and displayed a black handgun.  The teller complied with the demand and the subject fled the scene on foot northbound through the parking lot with an undetermined amount of US currency.  There were four employees in the bank and no injuries were reported.
 
The subject is described as male black, 30 years old, 6’, dark complexion, black colored doo rag, tan button down long sleeve shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers and black sunglasses.
 
Detectives request anyone with information regarding this crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.  All callers will remain anonymous.
