"Heat Advisory" ...Heat advisory remains in effect from noon to 8 PM EDT Monday... * heat index values...around 100 due to temperatures near 90... and dewpoints in the lower 70s. * Timing...highest heat indices Monday afternoon. * Impacts...the combination of the heat and humidity will increase the risk for heat related health issues...especially for the elderly...those with chronic health problems such as lung and heart disease...those working outdoors...and other heat sensitive groups of people. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A heat advisory is issued when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 100 to 104 degrees for two consecutive hours. To reduce risk during outdoor work the occupational safety and health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. SCPD Looking for Jewelry Thief

A man is wanted for fleeing from a Huntington Station store with a stolen necklace.

Huntington Station, NY - February 17, 2014 - Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man who stole jewelry from a store in Huntington Station last month.
 
A man entered Macy’s, located at 160 Walt Whitman Road, and asked a store clerk to see a necklace on January 25, 2014 at 6:15 p.m. The clerk gave him the necklace and the man took it and fled the store.
 
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
