Buying a home or investment property is no doubt a big decision. If you are like a vast majority of Americans, you will need assistance in financing your purchase. Choosing the amount you will need to loan, which type, the length of term, and your desired mortgage services are all factors you’ll need to take into consideration when deciding upon the mortgage or financing company with which to pair up through this important process. Mortgage services vary by company, but typically offer several loan programs with the offer of fixed or adjustable rate mortgages, jumbo, FHA, and VA loans. These loans also offer varying financing rates and terms, offering the customer the ability to pay the loan off in 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30 years. There are generally several steps associated with procuring a mortgage, beginning with the preparatory phase where the customer researches their various loan options and decides upon a mortgage company with which to partner. Next, the home buyer will contact the mortgage company and begin to fill out a series of paperwork to pre-qualify for their loan, which then leads to the third step which is achieving the loan approval decision. From there, the specific terms, conditions, settlement costs, and payments will be worked out with the mortgage company and the loan papers will be signed, thus enabling the customer to go forward with purchasing their home.
