The 14-acre Brookville site of a former summer camp and day school owned by the Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center (JCC) has been purchased by Long Island University (LIU) $8.5 million, according to reports.

The property, located at 340 Wheatley Road, had been home to the Bernice Jacobson Day School and Camp, which the Village of Brookville forced to close in September 2022 due to reportedly being in violation of zoning regulations.

The Sid Jacobson JCC had previously purchased the property in 2008 for $8 million; the seller, the Robin Hood Country Day School, had been operating on the site for 50 years and were in the process of moving to Westbury at the time.

LUI's purchase of the site includes several buildings that take up approximately 12,400-square-feet of space; the school's specific plans for the property have not been announced as of press time.
