The announcement was made at the association’s 151st annual convention in Niagara Falls, which began on August 10. The Firefighters Home traces its roots back to 1892 and currently has 89 residents.

“I am honored for the opportunity to continue my service to FASNY and my fellow volunteer firefighters in this new capacity and join an outstanding group of Trustees in their dedication to supporting volunteer firefighters who have served their communities but can no longer care for themselves,” Ammirati said.

He has been serving Suffolk County for more than 40 years as a volunteer firefighter and is an active member of numerous organizations in the region.
