A few weeks before COVID hit the Island, the owners of The Curry Club in East Setauket had a grand opening for their newest location in downtown Port Jefferson. At the old Harbor Grill location, also previously known as Schafer’s, SāGhar promised the same quality patrons had come to know in their Indian cuisine.

The menu is a fusion of Indian and American fare and offers small plates like Calamari Bhajiya, consisting of calamari, chickpea flour, carom seeds, mint and tamarind ($14) and Macchi & Chips, which is basa fish, chickpea flour, tamarind, mint and french fries ($18). Their large plates include an 8 oz. filet mignon ($30) and 16 oz. t-bone ($35) for steak lovers and Kashmiri Lamb Shank, slow braised lamb shank, red wine sauce, saffron rice,  and curry mash ($39) and Rasam Podi Sea Bass, pan seared Chilean sea bass, rasam spice, crispy okra, saffron curry mash and pomegranate ($32).

The best seating is on the rooftop dining deck, where you can take in a picturesque view of Port Jefferson harbor while you dine, epecially at sunset.

Location: SāGhar, 111 West Broadway, Port Jefferson, (631) 473-8300.
