Sheriff Errol D. Toulon, Jr. and the Men and Women of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office recently said goodbye to a young member of the force. Correction Officer Candice Ogiejko, 25, was killed in a car accident on June 23, 2021. She had been a Correction Officer in the Riverhead Correctional Facility for a little over two years.
 
Sheriff Toulon said, “The entire staff of the Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of Correction Officer Candice Ogiejko. Correction Officer Ogiejko was just 25 years old and had her entire life and career ahead of her. She will be greatly missed by her loving family, as well as her extended family in law enforcement.
 
Members of the Sheriff’s Office lined up in Class A dress uniforms at St. Gerard’s Roman Catholic Church in Port Jefferson Station to bid Correction Officer Ogiejko farewell. The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard served as pall bearers as Taps was played on a bugle.
