For the month of June, Bagel Boss locations around Long Island will support the Alzheimer’s Association and its mission to end Alzheimer’s disease with purple bagels and special “purple and white” cookies.

Andrew Hazen, CEO of Bagel Boss, says “My family has been affected by Alzheimer’s, like so many others on Long Island. The bagels and cookies are a fun way to support this cause that means so much to me.”

The bagels and cookies will be available at Bagel Boss location in Hewlett, East Northport, Oceanside, Merrick, Roslyn, Jericho and Carle Place starting June 1. Proceeds from sales of the purple treats will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association, Long Island Chapter and The Longest Day.

Judy Wichter, Associate Director of Development at the Alzheimer’s Association explains, “Each year, we mark the day with the most light, the summer solstice, through The Longest Day campaign. Anyone can get involved by creating their own fundraising activity and supporting the Alzheimer’s Association. While we celebrate on June 20, people can fundraise throughout the year. It’s about shining a light on this important cause by doing something you enjoy.”

More than 6 million people are living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia in the United States and more than 410,000 of them live in New York. The Alzheimer’s Association, Long Island Chapter provides free care and support to families affected by the disease in Nassau and Suffolk counties.

Judy Wichter says, “The Alzheimer’s Association thanks Andrew Hazen and all our supporters for raising awareness about Alzheimer’s and making our work possible. We couldn’t do it without their generosity and commitment.”
