Young at Heart series offers daytime concerts for seniors & those living with memory loss

The Jazz Loft will be highlighting composer Harry Warren next month as the popular Young at Heart daytime concert series continues June 1 at 1 p.m. concert is co-sponsored by the Ward Melville Heritage Organization.

 

Warren, who collaborated throughout his career with numerous lyricists and was best known for writing many familiar hit songs, including “Chattanooga Choo Choo”, “Serenade in Blue”, “I Had the Craziest Dream” and “You’ll Never Know,” which was his second Oscar winner.  

 

The band will feature the Young at Heart Trio, with Manuel on cornet; Steve Salerno on guitar; and Keenan Zach on bass. All concerts are from 1-2 p.m. for the discounted price of just $10. Tickets can be purchased here: Tickets

 

“I often hear from seniors that it may be difficult for them to travel out at night and so I created the ‘Young at Heart Series ‘which takes place in the afternoon,” said Manuel. But while the series is indeed for seniors, it can also be a wonderful respite for those suffering from memory loss and their caretakers, as well as kids from ages 1-92!" The one-hour programs are designed to be interactive and embrace story telling. Each theme is a trip down memory lane and a great way for folks to reminisce about different artists and time periods.”
