Wow ... I always wanted to see whales up close, and the other week, I finally got my chance! This cruise is seriously one of the coolest things you can do around here. I can't wait to do it again sometime soon.

I live and work in Manhattan, which means that despite being near the ocean, I don't actually see it all that much. I've been to the beach plenty of times over the years, but I never spotted a single whale. One day I decided to treat myself and my boyfriend to something special to celebrate a promotion at work, and I thought, "Why not go on a cruise and see some whales?" We bought tickets to the American Princess Cruise to go whale-sighting, and it was a wonderful experience, the kind you remember for the rest of your life. We spotted several whales spouting in the water, and at one point five or six dolphins were swimming right alongside us! It was also a very nice view of the city. The cruises run through August, so this is the perfect time of year to go and see some marine mammals! It's not all that expensive; I think our tickets were $45 each, and there are discounts if you have kids.
