Pedestrian Severely Injured in Motor Vehicle Crash

Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that severely injured a pedestrian in Brentwood last night.
 
Daniel Vargas walked into the roadway on Suffolk Avenue, just east of Wicks Road, when he was struck by an eastbound 2006 Honda Accord at approximately 9:35 p.m.
 
Vargas, 50, who is undomiciled, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the Honda, 65, of Central Islip, was not injured. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
 
Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
