Rowing clubs, crews, teams and associations

Long Island Rowing

Rowing became popular as a speed sport when boat racing was first introduced at Venetian festivals (regata) in the 13th Century. These days many of the Long Island rowing crews, clubs and associations are comprised of co-ed high school and college teams competiting at various regattas on Long Island, NY as well as out of state.

Listed below are some of the schools, organizations and teams that promote the sport of rowing on Long Island.

  • Chaminade High School Rowing Crew

  • Cold Spring Harbor Rowing Association
    Cold Spring Harbor, New York

  • Crew Club of Oyster Bay
    Oyster Bay, New York
    The Crew Club of Oyster Bay is the High School Program of the Sagamore Rowing Association. The Crew Club of Oyster Bay is open to any high school students interested in rowing.

  • Dowling College Rowing Crew
    Oakdale, New York

  • East End Rowing
    Westhampton Beach, New York
    East End Rowing is a not-for-profit organization with the goal of making rowing accessible to all residents of the East End. They work with local schools and recreation programs and are members of the United States Rowing Association.

  • Friends Academy Rowing Team
    Oyster Bay, New York
    The Friends Academy Rowing Team was established in 1989. The team has brought home victories from various regattas incuding Stotesbury Cup, Scholastic Championships, and qualifying races for The US Rowing National Championships in Cincinnati. The team competes in Single, Double and Quad Sculling events in the spring, and also in Eights Sweeping events in the fall. This college rowing team has competed against schools such as Bates College, Brown, Bucknell, Columbia, George Washington, Harvard, MIT, Princeton, U Penn and Wesleyan.

  • Long Island Rowing Club
    Long Island Rowing offers training and competitive rowing programs to middle and high school students on Long Island. Members train at Fleets Cove Beach in Centerport. Our mission is to promote the sport of rowing on Long Island, while preparing students for the experience of rowing on a collegiate level.
    LI Rowing offers 4-training seasons. Our spring and fall seasons involve training on-water in single, 2, 4 and 8 people racing shells as well as dry-land training to improve overall strength and conditioning. Our summer Camp offers morning and full day programs for a single week - up to 10-weeks. During the winter we offer an Indoor Conditioning Program at a local gym, where we train and hone our skills on rowing machines. During all four seasons our athletes enjoy learning from some of the finest crew coaches and trainers in the country.

  • Hofstra University Crew Team
    Pride Rowing is a group of talented, dedicated student-athletes who embody the values of the Hofstra university and of their sport. Hofstra Crew competes locally and as far away as Boston, MA and Whitney Point, New York. Hofstra Rowing Crew practices in Oyster Bay, New York.

  • Huntington High School Crew
    Huntington, New York
    The Huntington High School crew team was founded in 1998. The team has grown to include over 40 co-ed rowers. The Huntington Crew rows in the Fall and Spring with the Spring being the major racing season. There is also a full time winter training program indoors to maintain fitness. Huntington Crew has been able to compete as one of Long Island’s top rowing schools entering eight boats at the State Championship Regatta 2005, and took home six medals, including a state championship title in the Men’s Senior Double.

  • Sagamore Rowing Association
    Huntington Harbor and Oyster Bay, NY
    Sagamore Rowing Association (SRA) trains thousands of rowers across Long Island. They have numerous Olympians, World, National Team members and medalists. Sagamore Rowing Associations is one of the most established and highly regarded rowing clubs in the country. The rowing association has launched a dozen high school and university rowing programs on Long Island, in addition to many adult programs. Sagamore Rowing Association is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the sport of rowing, helping Long Island rediscover a traditional sport.

  • Sagamore Summer Rowing Program
    Huntington Harbor and Oyster Bay, NY
    Sagamore Rowing Association is open to all high school rowers of varying levels of experience. Interested rowers will have two options of training to choose, the recreation or the travel team.

  • St. Anthony's Crew, Inc.
    Huntington, New York
    St. Anthony's Rowing Club exists to enhance the rowing skills of students at St. Anthony’s High School and to promote interscholastic rowing activities. Although rowing is a club sport, rowing is recognized by the school as a full varsity team sport. St. Anthony's crew has grown from a handful of rowers to a team of approximately 80 and a fleet of ten boats. They have won the Point's Trophy at the Long Island Championships for the past eight years.
