Give Back: Where to Volunteer This Holiday

Written by Lon Cohen  |  08. December 2021

Everyone knows that the holidays are about the feels. What better way to feel good than to give back this holiday season. We have gathered just a few places you can volunteer this year to help make someone else’s season a little brighter - and maybe your own too in the process.

rockCANroll - This organization collaborates with rock concerts, schools, corporations, and private individuals to collect healthy non-perishable food (for people and pets) and basic necessities for distribution to local agencies and into the hands of children, seniors and families who live with hunger and in poverty. Help Out While You ROCK OUT! Want to help? There are many volunteer opportunities available at rockCANroll. Click here to find out more.

Island Harvest - The largest hunger relief organization on Long Island. They say that they rely on over 40,000 hours of annual service that volunteers provide to help in their mission to end hunger and reduce food waste. Looking for a rewarding team building experience?  Island Harvest has projects for small and large groups whether you are affiliated with a community organization, school, or corporation. Contact the Volunteer and Community Relations Coordinator, Shannon Karafian, at volunteersupport@islandharvest.org or call 631-873-4775.

The INN - The INN provides a broad variety of essential services to assist those challenged by hunger, homelessness and profound poverty. Volunteers are a fundamental part of their success. Thanks to their dedication, passion and commitment to the mission, The INN is able to meet the needs of thousands of needy Long Islanders. All volunteer applicants must register in advance for opportunities using their volunteer application form.
