“Thank You for Your Service:” An Artistic Tribute to our Military

Written by Long Island News & PR  |  13. August 2014

Setauket, NY - August 11, 2014 - County Legislator Kara Hahn and Gallery North are pleased to present Thank You for Your Service: An Artistic Tribute to Our Military. Experience the life of a soldier through the arts as veterans are provided the opportunity to share their stories.

“Every Veteran has a story to tell that has been shaped by their unique experiences and perspectives,” said Legislator Hahn. “In sharing these truly personal stories through artistic mediums, we hope to honor the service and sacrifice that each has made to safeguard our Nation.”

“For many, it is difficult to share the military experience through interviews and other traditional forms of media,” said Judith Levy, Director of Gallery North. “We believe this will be a unique and impressionable experience for not only our guests, but for the veterans themselves who can share their stories through their chosen mediums.”

Artists, who have served in the military, are invited to submit work which can include anything from tattoos and poetry, to music and paintings. Please note, Carrie Weston Studios, a veteran owned and operated photography studio in East Northport, will be photographing portraits of veterans with their tattoos.

Thank You for Your Service will run from November 14, 2014 through November 19, 2014 at The Bates House, Setauket, NY. Join us for the Opening Reception Friday, November 14, 5-7:30pm.

Sponsorship opportunities are available and needed to ensure the success of this exhibition. For more information please call Gallery North at (631) 751-2676 or e-mail: info@gallerynorth.org.
