Island Park, NY - June 20, 2014 - Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano was joined by Peter’s Clam Bar owner Butch Yamali; Legislator Denise Ford; Island Park Mayor Michael McGinty; Island Park Deputy Mayor Stephen D’Esposito; Island Park Trustees Joseph Annarella, Irene Naudus, and Matthew Paccione; Ray Donnelly of NY Rising; Chief of the Island Park Fire Department Anthony D’Esposito; members of the Island Park Business and Residential Chamber of Commerce; and members of the Island Park Chamber of Commerce in reopening Peter’s Clam Bar, a 75 year old iconic restaurant that was devastated by SuperStorm Sandy. The ribbon cutting ceremony kicked off the first official weekend of the summer of 2014. The South Shore institution sustained heavy damage during SuperStorm Sandy in 2012, and was struggling to recover, unable to fully open after their dining room was under six feet of water. After two years, and millions spent, Peter’s Clam Bar is fully restored and ready to serve the community.
