Volunteers Needed as LI Sets to Host US Junior Olympic Synchronized Swimming Championships
East Meadow, NY - June 6, 2016 - The Nassau County Aquatic Center, site of swimming events at the 1998 Goodwill Games, will host the U.S. Junior Olympic Synchronized Swimming Championships beginning Friday, June 24. The event runs through July 2 and is expected to include more than 1,000 swimmers.
“We are very excited to go back to Long Island,” said USA Synchro CEO Myriam Glez. “Last year, Long Island hosted our U.S. Open Championships, and we had a great event. The facilities are fantastic for synchronized swimming and the city has been very supportive.”
Swimmers will vie for medals in solo, duet and team in the 18-19, 16-17, 13-15 and 12 and under age groups. Free combo will be held in the 16-19 and 13-15 divisions.
The championships will be streamed live by TakeItLive.

Daily admission will be $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and children under the age of 12 (free admission for children under 2). Daily tickets and an All-Event pass ($35 valid June 25-July 2) can be purchased at the Nassau County Aquatic Center.
Built in 1998 for the International Goodwill Games, the Nassau County Aquatic Center is widely recognized as one of the finest swimming facilities in the U.S. It regularly hosts major swimming and diving competitions, as well as local high school events and swim clubs. Dozens of U.S. and world swimming records have been set at the 80,000-square-foot Aquatic Center.
