Unlicensed Driver Arrested for DWI in Hempstead

Hempstead, NY - May 24th, 2014 - The Highway Patrol Bureau reports the arrest of an Amityville man for DWI that occurred at 4:05am on May 24, 2014 in Hempstead.
 
Defendant Roberto Cruz, 36, of 11 Rod Place was observed by a Nassau County Highway Patrol Officer operating a 2013 white colored Toyota Rav4 bearing a N.C. registration eastbound on Fulton Avenue where he failed to signal a right turn onto Clinton Street and began blocking a lane of traffic by stopping in traffic at a green light.  The Officer conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop southbound on Clinton Street.  The Officers investigation led to the arrest of Defendant Cruz for DWI.  Upon arrest processing of the Defendant it was revealed that the arrestees driving record showed that he was convicted two prior times for DWI 1192.2AA and had a court order for an interlock device for his car which had none and that his driving privileges were revoked for alcohol related suspensions.
 
Defendant Roberto Cruz is charged with three felony counts of DWI, two felony counts of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st Degree, two misdemeanor counts of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd Degree, one count of Operation without Interlock – Court Order, violations for an Uninspected and Unregistered Motor Vehicle, Unlicensed Operation and Failure to Signal.  The defendant will be arraigned on May 24, 2014 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
