Simple Recipes Made of Freshly Fallen Snow

Being stuck inside all day because of the snow can be a real drag. It almost seems like there’s never a time you’d like to escape the house more than the times when weather doesn’t allow you to. Next time you’re trapped indoors though due to inclement Winter weather, get the whole family together to make some simple recipes out of freshly fallen snow! Not only do you get to eat your yummy creations once you’re done, you also just came up with an activity for the day!

Homemade Snow Cones
Remember running after the ice cream man as a kid for a snow cone in the Summer? Well now you don’t have to!

Ingredients:

  • Fresh snow
  • Kool-aid (in various colors/flavors)

Directions: Start off by opening your Kool-aid and pouring it into a water bottle. Then, right after it snows, or as the snow is still falling, run outside and grab some fresh snow. Pack it into a paper cone then drip Kool-aid from your water bottle onto the snow, watching it as it turns colors. Add as many more colors and flavors as you want. Then take a bite!

Vanilla Snow Ice Cream
Not only is this vanilla snow ice cream recipe delicious, it’s super easy1

Ingredients:

  • Fresh snow (a bowl full)
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 cups milk

Directions: Place a large bowl outside of your home when it starts to snow. Once you see that it is full, stir the sugar and vanilla into the the snow. Then add just enough milk to reach ice cream consistency. Eat right away!

Maple Syrup Candy
Enjoy some sweet suckers served fresh from the snow!

Ingredients:

  • Fresh snow
  • Maple syrup

Directions: For this recipe make sure it is a very cold day with ample snow on the ground. Poke a little indent into the snow then pour a small amount of maple syrup into that small valley you just created in the snow. Let the maple syrup freeze then once frozen you’ll have a nice, round, hard candy to suck on!

Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri
This is the perfect snowed in recipe for adults, and kids! Just remember to leave out the rum when you’re making one for the kids!

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups of hard, icy snow
  • 4 oz frozen strawberries
  • ¾ cup of rum
  • ½ cup sugar (white)
  • ½ cup lemon juice
  • ⅛ cup lime juice
  • ¼ cup 7-Up, Sierra Mist or Sprite

Directions: Combine snow, frozen strawberries and sugar in the blender then blend. Next add in your rum, lime juice, lemon juice and lime-flavored carbonated soda. Blend once more then serve in a big cocktail glass.
