Eclectic / New American Restaurants on Long Island

The American diet no longer consists of simply steak and potatoes, and while Americans still love their meats and starches they have grown to enjoy more varied dishes and ways of preparing old standards. "New American" is a difficult concept to pin down, partly because it draws on influences as diverse as the people who have immigrated to the US, but a running theme of using fresh, locally sourced ingredients makes for some delectable dishes no matter what direction the chef takes them in.
