NJ Man Arrested for DWI in Woodbury After Crashing into Telephone Pole

Woodbury, NY - December 30th, 2014 - The Nassau County Police report the arrest of a New Jersey man for Driving While Intoxicated on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 12:25 A.M. in Woodbury.

According to police, the defendant Jeffrey Rausa, 43, of Anchorage Boulevard, Bayville, NJ was driving southwest on Woodbury Road when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a telephone pole before  coming to rest in a ditch. Nassau County Emergency Services Officers rescued the defendant from the car before air-lifting him to an area hospital for treatment for his non-life threatening injuries.  A passenger in the car, a 32 year old male from New Jersey was transported to an area hospital for treatment for a minor wrist injury.

Rausa is charged with Assault 2nd degree, Reckless Endangerment 2nd degree and Driving While Intoxicated.  He will have a bedside arraignment as soon as practical.
