Long Island Cares, Inc. Official Mascot Joins Twitter

Written by Long Island News & PR  |  30. December 2014

Hauppauge, NY - December 30, 2014 - Long Island Cares, Inc.'s Twitter presence just got a little more magical - the regional food bank's official mascot, AsparaGus the Dragon, has joined the site. As some may know, AsparaGus came to Long Island Cares to help children relate to the reality and prevalence of hunger on Long Island, especially among other children, and to give them the tools they need to help fight it.

Using his new handle @AsparaGusLIC, the friendly dragon will chronicle his adventures spreading hunger awareness across Long Island using the hashtag #slayinghunger, and promote the benefits and accessibility of nutrition for kids and families.

"Usually dragons are the ones being slain," says AsparaGus, "but I'm one of the good guys, and I'm here to help Long Island Cares train heroes to battle hunger. Hunger is a real evil, and real evils take a lot of courage, hard work, and teamwork to conquer - but I know we can do it together. I'm too shy to talk in front of people, so I'm very excited to talk to them on Twitter about what they are doing or can do to slay hunger on Long Island!"

To keep up with AsparaGus's adventures or join his team of hunger slayers, simply follow follow him  on Twitter.
