Uniondale Man Arrested During Traffic Stop on Drug, Firearm Charges, According to Reports

Uniondale, NY - December 29, 2017 - The First Squad reports the arrest of a Uniondale man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 6:50 p.m. in Uniondale.
 
According to detectives, officers conducted a car stop on the corner of Jerusalem Ave. and Clarendon Rd. for failure to signal. Upon approaching the defendant, Wendell Forrest, 37, they noticed a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle, a grey Mercedes Benz. Subsequent investigation recovered a black semi-automatic Taurus 9mm handgun in his vehicle. The defendant was placed under arrest without incident.
 
The defendant is charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana as well as multiple VTL violations. He will be arraigned on Friday, December 29, 2017 at First District Court, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
