Hempstead, NY - November 30, 2016 - The Village of Hempstead recently honored the Hempstead Public School District for its dedication to teaching diversity through the District’s Hispanic Heritage Celebration Program 2016.

During the celebration, local children sang Hispanic songs, performed Hispanic dances, showcased handmade paintings of inspirational Hispanic thinkers and shared writings from their favorite Hispanic poets and authors. Deputy Mayor Luis Figueroa presented the district with the Mayor’s Special Recognition Award following the celebration.
