Street Renaming Honors Beloved Brentwood Resident

A hometown hero was honored for his service as a Sergeant as a Suffolk County Sheriff. Brentwood resident Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Sergeant Keith Allison was memorialized at a street renaming ceremony in his honor. Sgt. Allison died December 17, 2020 from complications due to COVID-19. He was 52.

 

A lifelong resident of Brentwood, Inv. Sgt. Allison was a 25-year member of the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office, serving as Commanding Officer for the Personnel Investigations Bureau. He was the President, Suffolk County Corrections Officers Association and through his leadership and professionalism, was appointed to serve as an instructor at Suffolk Community College, teaching minority and sensitivity classes to every officer in the Sheriff’s Department.

 

Outside of his career, Inv. Sgt. Keith Allison dedicated his free time to volunteer work, serving as a Trustee and First Vice President of the Brentwood School Board. He was a longtime member of the Islip Town branch of the NAACP and Deacon at Faith Alive Ministries. He took pride in the Brentwood Youth Activities organization, where he ran the basketball program and served as its President.

 

“Investigator Sergeant Keith Allison succumbed to Covid on this very day last December. It was snowing that day,” said Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter. “Today, the sun is shining, and I can’t help but think Keith is looking down on all of us here today, cherishing what’s happening, and praying for his family and the great family that he came to know and love In the County of Suffolk.”

 

Sgt. Keith Allison and his wife Brenda met in the ROTC Room at Brentwood High School. They married in 1991, and raised a family of two children in their hometown of Brentwood. They have a daughter Alicea, a son Darius, and a granddaughter Avaleigh.
