Written by Lon Cohen  |  30. December 2021

A new Greek restaurant opened up recently in Carle Place offering plenty of traditional Mediterranean fare. Gyro Jimmy’s started giving locals a taste of their Greek food offerings in November.

The appetizer menu includes Avgolemono, a traditional egg-lemon soup, (medium, $4.50 or large, $6), Feta drizzled with olive oil and imported oregano ($9), Spanakopita Spinach Pie, savory spinach and feta in a crispy phyllo dough ($6), and Saganaki imported Kefalotiri Cheese, pan fried and sprinkled with imported oregano ($10).

Some of the spreads they offer include Hummus ($7), Tzatziki ($7), and Melitzanosalata, an eggplant garlic spread ($7).

Of course, their dishes include gyros like their Chicken, Beef, Lamp, or Pork Gyros ($14) and a Falafel plate ($14). They also offer Skepasti, a traditional Greek favorite, which is two pita breads top and bottom filled with sauce and the protein of your choice like chicken, pork, beef, lamb, or falafel. Served with French fries.

On Yelp, John N. from Brooklyn, said he was  on the road away from home, where good Greek food is abundant, when he said that he suddenly had the urge for some gyro.

“Given my high standards for good Greek, I was reluctant but then I decided to hit up Yelp and found this new place tucked in just down the road from the mall,” he wrote. “ Everything was delicious and prepared to order… Everything was reasonably priced, the place was simple and clean and the service attentive. Couldn't ask for anything more. The next time I'm in the area again I'll be sure to stop by.”

Petey T, from Mineola, also liked it.

“Tried this place recently. Very friendly service from the owner. Food was delicious. Good Greek food and no wait,” he wrote. “ Would definitely recommend this place and will be going back frequently.”
