Touting itself as number one in buns Bird and Bao, a new restaurant in Patchogue Village specializes in bao buns, the kind you might find folded around pork belly in Chinese food restaurants. According to a profile in the Long Island Advance, the owner, Conor Swanson, is a Northport native and French Culinary Institute graduate. Instead of the traditional pork or vegetable, Bird and Bao will feature chicken bao buns.

 

The menu is streamlined with four bao buns being offered for $5.50 (two crispy chickens, pork belly and tofu) and a selection of sides. They also have a bao box available that includes two baos, fries and a drink for $15.

 

Yelpers and Facebook reviews have been positive so far.

 

“Delicious food, very unique! I’ve been there a couple of times and sampled basically the whole menu and literally everything has been awesome! definitely will be back 👍🏻” wrote one Facebook reviewer.

 

A Yelper said that it was “excellent.”

 

“Fresh and amazingly flavorful! We had the original bao (Chicken ) and the patchogue bao (pork). The crunchy herb salad. Outstanding! We'll be back soon!”
