Long Island Mother Delivers Baby while Enroute to Hospital on Christmas Eve

One Long Island family celebrated Christmas very happily this year with the early arrival of their baby girl.

While running errands on Christmas Eve, Karen Hollander, 40, began feeling contractions a minute apart after making a stop at a bank in Great Neck at 5:14 p.m.

After calling 911, an ambulance arrived within minutes and proceeded to transport her to North Shore Manhasset Hospital, but her baby girl was delivered while enroute to the hospital.

Baby Alexandra Leah entered the world in an ambulance healthy and ready to celebrate the holidays with her family.

The family is thankful Nassau County police and county ambulance workers were prepared and ready for the special delivery inside the ambulance.

This is the family’s first daughter to join their four sons.
