LI Man Arrested for Driving with 20 License Suspensions

Islip Terrace, NY - December 23, 2016 - Suffolk County Police have arrested a Manorville man for driving with 20 license suspensions in Islip Terrace last night.

Highway Patrol Officer Zacarias Alvarado observed a 2002 Ford Taurus traveling at a high rate of speed on Sunrise Highway near exit 46 at approximately 10:40 p.m. and initiated a traffic stop. Officer Alvarado checked the driver’s license and determined the driver, Kristopher O’Connell, had his license suspended 20 times on 10 separate dates, dating back to December 2005.

O’Connell, 29, of Manorville, was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 1st Degree, a felony, and was issued a summons for speeding. He was held overnight at the Third Precinct for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip today.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
