Mangano Pays Tribute To Fallen Firefighter Joseph Sanford Jr.

Nassau County, NY - December 23, 2015 - Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano (standing) marked the 1 year anniversary of Ex-Chief Joseph J. Sanford, Jr.’s death by participating in a tribute that celebrated his heroic life. On December 23, 2014, Ex-Chief Sanford died in the line of duty while responding to a house fire in Woodmere.

Ex-Chief Sanford, was affectionately called “Junior” by members of the Inwood Fire Department, where he was a dedicated member for 17 years. Ex-Chief Joseph J. Sanford, Jr. is survived by his wife Jackie and his daughter Janisha.

“We gather today to announce the extreme act of generosity made by the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, in paying off the remaining mortgage of the Sanford family home,” stated County Executive Mangano. “He risked his life to save the lives of others, to protect the property of others, and today, we protect his property and that of his family.”
