Mt. Sinai, NY - December 23, 2015 - On Sunday, December 20th, the Suffolk County Police arrested five people for selling alcohol to minors at several businesses in Rocky Point, Middle Island, Ridge and Sound Beach. Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker reminds merchants to check IDs when selling alcohol, and urges resident to alert the police of suspicious activity in their community.
"After my office received a number of complaints about businesses selling liquor to kids, we contacted Suffolk County police, who conducted the underage alcohol sting. I commend our police for their work in keeping our kids safe," said Legislator Anker.
The Seventh Precinct Crime Section officers conducted an underage alcohol sting at 11 businesses. Some businesses were chosen based on community complaint and others were chosen at random. Five establishments were found to be in violation of the law. All five were issued field appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.
