Legislator Anker Demands Brookhaven Town Declare Moratorium on Shoreham Solar Projects

What:

  • After Shoreham residents have been battling with the Town of Brookhaven on an existing 9.5 megawatt solar project, the community was notified on Tuesday, December 16 of an even larger solar project for their community.
  • Totaling 24.99 megawatts and 150 acres of land, the second solar project in Shoreham will be built at the Tall Grass Golf Course location.
  • Having failed to receive notifications from Brookhaven Town officials, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker, along with Shoreham residents, are demanding that the Town of Brookhaven issue a moratorium on the two solar projects to allow for increased community participation and involvement.
