Hauppauge, NY - December 21, 2018 - On Tuesday, December 18th, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker congratulated and presented a proclamation to Rohan Akmal of Longwood Middle School, the winner of the Suffolk County “Dangers of Liquid Nicotine” Poster Contest.

“The use of e-cigarettes has become rampant among teens and preteens, causing them to become addicted to nicotine at an early age. The poster helps educate our children on the dangers of liquid nicotine and will hopefully deter them from using it as they get older,” said Legislator Anker. “I congratulate Rohan on a job well done and thank him for teaching his peers how dangerous nicotine can be.”

The “Dangers of Liquid Nicotine” Poster Contest was held as per Resolution 187-2018. Introduced by Legislator Anker, it invited students to participate by creating a public service announcement poster to illustrate the risks of liquid nicotine use in children and adults. Rohan’s poster will be used on the cover of Suffolk County’s Dangers of Liquid Nicotine Brochure as part of a countywide messaged to be disseminated by the Suffolk County Department of Health Services.
