Mangano Announces The Second Annual New Year’s Eve DASH

East Meadow, NY - December 20, 2013 - Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano today announced the Second Annual New Year’s Eve DASH – 5K Race and New Year’s Eve Party to support the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (LICADD). The DASH and Party will take place in Eisenhower Park at midnight on New Year’s Eve, Tuesday, December 31st. Participants will begin to arrive at 10:00 p.m.
 
All participants should be at the Parking Field 6A starting line by 11:45 p.m. to watch the Times Square countdown to the New Year before running 2 loops around Eisenhower Park at exactly 12:00 a.m. The 5K course is USTAF certified and professionally timed. The race course will be lighted, and feature music from beginning to end. A water stop and *Champagne Stop* will be located on the course. Participants will finish in Parking Field 6A and proceed into the party tent where the fun continues into the night!
 
The post-finish line New Year’s Eve Party will feature DJ entertainment, buffet food and open bar (beer, wine & soft-drinks), coffee and desserts. Participants will receive a participant shirt, party favors, and even some hand-warmers to help out along the way. All finishers will receive a finisher medal and awards will be given to the overall top 3 males and female finishers.
 
Fees for the Second Annual New Year’s Eve DASH and party are as follows: $65 for Runners and Revelers, and $50 for Revelers only and Runners 12 and under.
 
To register please visit the website at: http://www.newyearsdash.com/. Advanced Registration is REQUIRED, however online registration will remain available until December 30th. All participants will have access to the locker rooms in the Nassau County Aquatic Center.
 
Volunteers are needed on December 31st to help setup, breakdown, and run registration, give out water (or Champagne) and help all of our participants to the starting lines and finish lines. All who volunteer for the New Year’s Eve DASH are also invited to take part in the fun which includes complimentary food and drink, dance up the night with the DJ entertainment and enjoy your New Year’s Eve just like everyone else!
