Nassau Police Report Second Arrest Made in Shooting Death of Uniondale Teenager

Uniondale, NY - December 19, 2017 - Homicide Squad detectives report the arrest of Edar Ventura of Hempstead, 20, for his involvement in connection with a homicide which occurred on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 11:37 p.m. in Uniondale.
 
According to detectives, Alexon Moya of Uniondale, 16, was shot in the head while standing on Fenimore Avenue. Two suspects, described as male Hispanic, fled the scene on bicycles in an unknown direction. The victim was transported to an area hospital where the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced at 7:00pm on December 16, 2016 by a staff physician at Nassau University Medical Center
 
On January 18, 2017, Homicide Squad detectives reported the arrest of Jeustin David Maldonado, 17, of Uniondale for his involvement in connection with the above incident. He was charged with Attempted Murder 2nd Degree, Conspiracy 2nd Degree and Criminal Facilitation 2nd Degree. Maldonado was arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 1/18/2017.
 
Edar Ventura is charged Murder 2nd Degree and will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 12/19/2017.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
