Hempstead Teen Arrested for Assaulting Woman & Infant at Laundromat

Hempstead, NY - December 19th, 2014 - The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Hempstead man for a Robbery that occurred in Hempstead on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 11P:59 am.

According to detectives, a 39 year old female employee working at the 24 Hour Laundry located at 620 Fulton Avenue was holding a customer’s 1 year old infant daughter when the defendant Ralphael Brown, 19, of Washington Avenue approached the victim and choked her allowing him to rip a diamond necklace from her neck. During the struggle the defendant Ralphael Brown also pushed the infant victim and began kicking and stepping on her. Brown then fled on foot and was observed entering into a blue 2010 Mazda traveling onto Fulton Avenue.

A subsequent investigation led detectives to the defendant’s residence and with the assistance of the Bureau of Special Operations Officers were able to place Brown into police custody without further incident. The infant suffered contusions to the head, chest and back area and was transported by ambulance to a local area hospital for treatment. The 39 year old victim suffered hand and chest bruising and lacerations. She refused treatment at the scene.

Ralphael Brown is charged with Robbery 2nd Degree, 2 counts Assault 2nd Degree, Strangulation 2nd Degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Friday, December 19, 2014.
