NCPD: Scammers Nabbed in Rockville Centre for Check & Credit Card Fraud

Rockville Centre, NY - December 19th, 2013 - The Crimes Against Property Squad reports two arrests for Grand Larceny which occurred on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 8:50 A.M. in Rockville Centre.

According to detectives, beginning in October 2013, Michael Richards, 29, of 904 Albany Avenue Apt.5, Brooklyn and Shalane Haynes-Grant, 22, of 1764 Bedford Avenue Apt. 35, Brooklyn entered the Rite-Aid located at 168 N. Village Avenue on several occasions with various fraudulent credit cards re-encoded with fraudulent bank account numbers and purchased numerous gift cards and merchandise causing a loss of over $60,000.  At the time of their arrest Richards was in possession of at least 16 fraudulent cards and Haynes-Grant in possession of at least 11 cards.  They were arrested at Rite-Aid without incident.

They are charged with Grand Larceny 2nd degree and 11 counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd degree.  Richards is being charged with an additional 5 counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd degree.  They will be arraigned on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at First District Court in Hempstead.
