Man Arrested in Rockville Centre for Using Fake $20 to Purchase Candy Bar

Rockville Centre, NY - December 19th, 2013 - The Crimes Against Property Squad reports the arrest of a Baldwin man for Forgery that occurred in Rockville Centre on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 1:15 am.

According to detectives, the defendant Steven J. Loetterle, 31, entered into the CVS Pharmacy located at 155 Sunrise Highway and was observed by store personnel purchasing a candy bar using a counterfeit twenty dollar bill. Upon leaving, store personnel contacted the Rockville Centre Police Department and gave a description of the defendant and his vehicle which was a 1988 red Chevrolet. A short while later the Rockville Centre Police did observe the defendant driving and conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop on North Center Avenue near Sunrise Highway. An investigation revealed that Loetterle was in possession of multiple counterfeit twenty dollar bills. Steven J. Loetterle was placed into police custody without incident.

Steven J. Loetterle is charged with 12 counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument. He will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday, December 19, 2013.
