Riverhead, NY - December 17, 2013 - A Certified Public Accountant will be arraigned today (December 17, 2013) in criminal court in Riverhead on an indictment charging him with stealing money from two of his elderly clients, and from a not-for-profit organization run by a group of volunteers, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said today.

Scott Meyer, 47, of Paddock Road in Seaford, a partner of an accounting firm named Johnson and Meyer, was arrested six months ago and charged with grand larceny.  He is free on $25,000 bail and will appear Tuesday before Suffolk County Judge Stephen Braslow.

The court calendar starts at 9:30 am.

Meyer is alleged to have stolen approximately $150,000 from an 80 year old Greenport client diagnosed with dementia and in excess of $240,000 from a disabled victim, now living in California.

District Attorney Spota said the third victim is a rural cemetery association located in Huntington.  It is alleged the defendant stole approximately $427,000.00 from the group.
