Legislator Browning, SCPD & the EAC Network Host Successful Car Seat Inspection Event in Mastic Beach

Mastic Beach, NY - December 15, 2014 - Recently free child car seat inspections were be offered to parents in Mastic Beach, and a limited number of booster seats were distributed free of charge to needy families. The safety initiative was offered through the Suffolk County Police Department in conjunction with Legislator Kate Browning (WF-Shirley), Mastic Beach Village and the EAC Network. It took place at Mastic Beach Village Hall and 18 inspections were completed. The initiative distributed 8 cars seats to families that were in need.

Three out of four car seats in the United States are used incorrectly, which endangers the lives of thousands of children every year. Since mostparents unknowingly install seats improperly. Suffolk County offers free inspections in an effort to better educate parents about how to safely use a car seat. Certified technicians conduct the inspections and provide essential safety information to parents.

“This is a valuable service that educates families on child seat safety at no cost to them,” stated Legislator Browning. “By ensuring your car seat is being used appropriately, you are ensuring the protection of your child. I want to thank the EAC Network for providing their technicians and Mastic Beach Village for hosting the event with me.”
