Missing East Northport Teenager Suffering from Bi-Polar Disorder Found

Written by Joe Randazzo  |  15. December 2013

Earlier this week the Suffolk County Police Department issued a Silver alert for a missing East Northport teenager. Thankfully the Silver Alert was cancelled as Melissa DiDaniele has been located unharmed

The teen had been missing from her East Northport home since December 2nd. The two main concerns authorities and family had in finding DiDaniele was weather and her bi-polar disorder. They feared she would not be seeking shelter from the snowy weather due to her condition.

Before finally being found, DiDaniele was last seen on December 6th in Central Park.

While one teen has been found, another still remains missing. The search for Avonte Oquendo has now reached its 12th week. The autistic teenager first went missing on October 4th and was last seen skipping from his Queens High School after classes let out.

The reward for his safe return has reached $95,000. Facebook pages such as Bring Avonte Home and Official Help Find Avonte have been active in the search to bring the autistic teen back to his parents.

“Anyone wishing to volunteer in the search for Avonte may do so by calling the search headquarters at (718) 606-6610, by visiting the command post headquarters at at 21-81 A 24th Street and by helping to spread awareness by sharing missing flyers, updates and posts from the page,” the page Bring Avonte Home writes.
