Last month, the Town of Brookhaven’s annual Youth Bureau INTERFACE Thanksgiving Food Drive provided holiday meals for 1,016 families in need and the total amount of food collected came to 8,636 pounds.

Over two days in November, the INTERFACE Program and JVC Broadcasting also hosted a food drive event at Compare Foods in Patchogue. P.J. Gelinas Junior High School in East Setauket, Sachem North and Sachem East High Schools helped to collect food, as well as grocery gift store donations.

“Many families in Brookhaven Town are struggling to put food on the table and the COVID-19 pandemic has only made this situation worse,” said Brookhaven Town Supervisor Ed Romaine. “The Youth Bureau’s Food Drive allows these families to enjoy a hearty Thanksgiving meal with their loved ones and reminds us all about the true meaning of the holiday season.”

The Youth Bureau INTERFACE Program is a partnership between good neighbors, local businesses and the Town of Brookhaven, united in a common effort to provide help to Brookhaven’s less fortunate residents all year round.
