Kayaker Rescued From Mount Sinai Harbor

An unidentified person was stuck in the mud in the middle of Mount Sinai Harbor at low tide on Sunday night. Police and local fire departments responded to the scene to help rescue the stranded individual.
 

According to Suffolk Police a call came in at 4:38pm about a person stuck in the mud. Suffolk Marine units  did not respond.

 

The Mount Sinai Fire Department posted about the call on Facebook saying that a kayaker was stuck 1,000 feet off shore during low tide.

“Crews geared up and walked out to the person and dragged them back to shore,” the statement read on Facebook. “Person was wet and cold and had to be evaluated by Port Jefferson EMS.”

 

Port Jefferson Fire Department, Miller Place Fire Department, and Rocky Point Volunteer Fire Department also assisted.
