Motorist Loses Control, Crashes Vehicle in Old Brookville; One Dead, Authorities Say
Old Brookville, NY - December 14, 2018 - The Homicide Squad reports the details of a fatal vehicular accident that occurred on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. in Old Brookville.
According to detectives, a 2015 Toyota, traveling southbound on Cedar Swamp Road (Rt 107), in the vicinity of Country Lane, driven by a 56 year old male, lost control and struck a concrete retaining wall. The collision left the vehicle stalled in the roadway where it was struck by a 2005 Hyundai, driven by a 52 year old male, traveling in the same direction.
The rear seat passenger of the Toyota, Michael Lotito of Jericho, 58, was transported to Syosset Hospital where he was pronounced deceased by a staff physician 3:31P.M. The driver of the Toyota was transported to an area hospital where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Hyundai was not injured.
The investigation is ongoing.
