Authorities Report Copiague Man Arrested for Robbing Five Suffolk Businesses, Four at Knifepoint

Suffolk County, NY - December 14, 2017 - Suffolk County Police have arrested a Copiague man for robbing five businesses, four at knifepoint, during the past nine months.
 
Following an investigation by First and Seventh Squad detectives, Joseph Putre was charged with Robbery 1st Degree for robbing the following businesses at knifepoint:
 
  • Dunkin Donuts, located at 925 Montauk Highway in Copiague, on December 1 at 10:18 p.m.
  • Mastic Liquors, located at 619 Montauk Highway in Mastic, on May 15 at 12:40 p.m.
  • Quik Stop, located at 20 Floyd Road in Shirley, on May 14 at 1:19 p.m.
  • 7-Eleven, located at 228 William Floyd Parkway in Shirley, on April 25 at 1:45 a.m.  
Putre was also charged with Robbery 2nd Degree for robbing Dunkin Donuts, located at 545 William Floyd Parkway in Shirley, on May 10 at 2:07 a.m.
 
Putre was scheduled to be arraigned today in First District Court in Central Islip
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
