"Coastal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch" ...Coastal flood advisory remains in effect until 1 PM EST this afternoon... * locations...vulnerable coastal locations along Long Island Sound, the East River, Peconic and gardiners bays. * Tidal departure...around 2 ft above astronomical tides. * Coastal flood impacts...shallow flooding is expected in the most vulnerable locations near the Waterfront and shoreline. Expect around 1 to 2 feet of inundation above ground level in low lying, vulnerable areas. Some roads and low lying property including parking lots, Parks, lawns and homes/businesses with basements near the Waterfront will experience shallow flooding. * Shoreline impacts...breaking waves of 2 to 4 ft will result in beach erosion with minor damage possible to dune structures along the Connecticut shoreline. * Timing...around the times of high tide this morning. In northeast New Jersey, eastern Bergen, eastern Essex, eastern Passaic, eastern Union, Hudson, western Essex, and western Union. In southeast New York, Bronx, Kings (brooklyn), New York (manhattan), northeastern Suffolk, northern Nassau, northern Queens, northwestern Suffolk, Richmond (staten island), southeastern Suffolk, southern Nassau, southern Queens, southern Westchester, and southwestern Suffolk. * Until 1 PM EST this afternoon * moderate to locally heavy rain will continue through early this afternoon. Total amounts of 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inches are possible, which may result in flooding of urban areas, and flashy streams. * Any fresh water flooding will be exacerbated by coastal flooding during the Sunday morning high tide. Authorities Report Copiague Man Arrested for Robbing Five Suffolk Businesses, Four at Knifepoint

SCPD have arrested Joseph Putre of Copiague for robbing five businesses during the past nine months.

Suffolk County, NY - December 14, 2017 - Suffolk County Police have arrested a Copiague man for robbing five businesses, four at knifepoint, during the past nine months.
 
Following an investigation by First and Seventh Squad detectives, Joseph Putre was charged with Robbery 1st Degree for robbing the following businesses at knifepoint:
 
  • Dunkin Donuts, located at 925 Montauk Highway in Copiague, on December 1 at 10:18 p.m.
  • Mastic Liquors, located at 619 Montauk Highway in Mastic, on May 15 at 12:40 p.m.
  • Quik Stop, located at 20 Floyd Road in Shirley, on May 14 at 1:19 p.m.
  • 7-Eleven, located at 228 William Floyd Parkway in Shirley, on April 25 at 1:45 a.m.  
Putre was also charged with Robbery 2nd Degree for robbing Dunkin Donuts, located at 545 William Floyd Parkway in Shirley, on May 10 at 2:07 a.m.
 
Putre was scheduled to be arraigned today in First District Court in Central Islip
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
