SCPD: Teen Arrested in Connection with Stealing Vehicle with 3-Year-Old Child Inside

Third Squad detectives charged a 17-year-old Central Islip male with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree in connection with the incident.

Suffolk County Police have arrested a male in connection with a vehicle that was stolen while a child was inside in Brentwood on Thursday, December 11.
 
Third Precinct police officers responded after a 2014 Honda Civic, that was running with a 3-year-old child inside, was stolen from a driveway on Whipple Street in Brentwood at 11:30 p.m.
 
Following extensive search, the vehicle and child were located on Bretton Road in Hauppauge at approximately 5 a.m. The child was unharmed and was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for evaluation.
 
Third Squad detectives charged a 17-year-old Central Islip male with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree in connection with the incident.
 
The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
